Hosting The Queen’s Six
Earlier this year we hosted professional vocal ensemble ‘The Queen’s Six’ to record their latest album at St Michaels.
The Queen's Six: Troubled Times: Music & Espionage In Renaissance England.
Based at Windsor Castle, members of The Queen's Six make up part of the Lay Clerks of St George's Chapel, whose homes lie within the Castle walls. This rare privilege demands the highest musical standards, as they sing regularly for the Royal family at both private and state occasions. Last year we were approached by The Queen's Six to use St Michael's Church to record their new album. The album is a collaboration with The Rose Consort of Viols and marks a return to the group's liturgical roots, exploring how Renaissance composers navigated shifting allegiances and censorship. They recorded in January 2026 and we are delighted to say that the album has been released today (22nd May). You can also watch a videoed recording of one of the tracks below.
